Thankfully, a good natural DIY face scrub are all you need to remove dead skin cells, remedy clogged pores and dull skin, and reveal glowing skin underneath.

Whether your dermis is dry, oily or you suffer from sensitive skin, here are three simple zero waste homemade face scrubs you can whip up in the kitchen using natural ingredients that will give you smoother skin and improve your skin tone.

Homemade face scrub
Shea butter is super nourishing for the skin.

Shea butter and jojoba face scrub (for dry skin)

Ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons jojoba oil 
  • 3 teaspoons argan oil
  • 4 teaspoons shea butter
  • 4-6 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 6-7 teaspoons brown sugar
Tea tree oil
Harness the power of essential oils by adding them to your homemade beauty products.

Method:

Combine the argan and jojoba oils and shea butter in a heatproof glass bowl over a double boiler. Heat on low heat until just melted.

Remove from heat and add tea tree essential oil.

Wait until the mixture cools down to room temperature then add sugar. Stir well, ensuring there are no clumps.

Store in a small airtight container or glass jar.

How To Make Herb Infused Honey
Raw honey possesses anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe redness and uneven skin tones.

Raw honey and sugar face scrub (for oily skin)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 5 drops lemon essential oil

Method:

Mix the organic honey, sugar and cinnamon until they form a thick paste.

Add the lemon oil and mix well.

Store in a small airtight glass container.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/8 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

Method:

Mix the sugar, olive oil, cocoa powder and vanilla extract into a small bowl.

Store in an airtight container.

How to use your homemade facial scrubs

Over your bathroom skin, splash your face with lukewarm water. Tip some of the face scrub (about a 50 cent piece size) into the palm of your hand. Using a circular motion, gently massage the scrub into your skin, being careful not to go too close to the delicate area around your eyes. 

Splash cool water on your face again, taking off any excess scrub with a damp cloth to reveal glowing skin!

You can also use your natural face scrubs as a body scrub. Use in the shower using a circular motion with warm water to eliminate dead skin cells and flaky skin.

I’m just wondering the Raw honey and sugar face scrub (for oily skin) recipe above doesn’t have sugar listed in it. Are we meant to add sugar in it as well or leave it as just the baking soda to mix with the honey ? Appreciate your time. Cheers, Nic
