Pip Podcast #5: Bush Schools with Niki Buchan

We’ve been exploring the ideas of nature play and wild education in the last few issues of Pip, but in our latest issue we feature a fantastic article on Bush Schools by Niki Buchan, an educator and nature play advocate. We loved her piece so much we needed to know more, and put together this Bush Schools podcast!

In the podcast, Niki chats with Pip editor Robyn Rosenfeldt about the importance of nature play, as well as sharing her top tips for introducing nature play into your child’s life, at school and in the home. She also discusses the many barriers parents experience in our modern world with the lure of “screen time” and schools geared towards NAPLAN testing playing an ever increasing competitor to outdoor, unstructured play.

This is a practical and inspiring podcast for any parent who wants their child to enjoy the sort of childhood they did, roaming free, outdoors and in nature!
