Pip Podcast #26: Paul West

Welcome to Pip Podcast number 26. In this podcast Robyn has a kitchen table conversation with chef, TV presenter, writer and grower Paul West of River Cottage Australia.

Paul West bounded onto our screens with River Cottage Australia in 2013. But his farm and food journey started long before the cameras started rolling.

Pull up a chair and enjoy as Paul and Robyn talk all things food, family, culture and community. In the podcast Paul shares his journey from dish-washer to TV chef. He also talks about his most recent work – his new book the Edible Garden Cookbook & Growing guide .

Paul is back in Bermagui, close to River Cottage heartland. But he’s been living and working in Melbourne recently and he shares his urban growing adventures. These adventures form the basis of his new book.

The book includes gardening advice, with guides on building a no-dig garden, composting and keeping chooks. It also features a guide of the vegies that are easiest to grow. And of course it contains over 50 recipes that are bursting with freshness and flavour.

For Paul, a meaningful life is one built around food and community. So in the book he shares his top ideas for bringing your community together through food. These include throwing a pickle party or a backyard sausage making day!

Paul’s enthusiasm for food and community is contagious! We hope you enjoy and are inspired by this podcast.
