How To Make Calendula Cream

Calendula (Calendula officinalis), also called pot marigold, is a hardy self-sowing annual flower, best planted in late summer–early autumn. It prefers temperate and subtropical areas.

Calendula have a bright orange flower, although some varieties have yellows and pinks too.

You can make your own calendula cream by binding water and oil components together to form a liquid with a firm consistency. Calendula cream can be used for inflammation, itchy skin, dryness, acne, scrapes, wounds or eczema.

Ingredients:

Waters

  • 125ml calendula infusion (calendula infused in hot water and left to stand for a minimum of four hours)
  • 1 tsp glycerine

Oils

  • 200ml calendula infused oil (dried calendula flowers infused in olive oil for one month)
  • 50g coconut oil
  • 25g beeswax

Calendula (Calendula officinalis)

Method:

Mix all of the oils together in a bain-marie over the stove.

When combined, put the oils in a blender and blend until creamy.

Add the waters a little at a time, until completely combined with a thick and creamy consistency.

Place in a glass jar and label with the ingredients and date. Keep in the refrigerator.
